My Story
When I was young I asked my Father why he stood by his dresser to read his Bible each morning. He said, “I don’t want to fall back to sleep, so I stand up each morning to read God’s Word”
I watched my parents interact with people their entire life. They could always quote a scripture passage when people asked them a tough question.
The living Word and the written word sustained them and those they interacted with. Their example sustained me and my sisters in the many things we faced in a culture that was moving away from a Christian Worldview toward a Secular Worldview.
Please consider three questions and answers.
Question #1 – What passages explain the big picture of how Jesus (Bread of Life) sustains us?
Answer: His role in the Trinity
Hebrews 1:3 – “The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.”
Colossians 1:17 – Jesus is “before all things, and in him all things hold together.”
John 1:3-4 – “Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.”
1 Corinthians 8:6 – “There is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live.“
Colossians 2:9-10 – “For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority.”
Ephesians 1:22-23 – “God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.”
Matthew 28:18 “Jesus said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.’
Revelation 4:11 – “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.”
Question #2 – What sustainable systems has God built into our lives?
Answer: God gives us three spheres of jurisdiction to sustain our lives.
-
- The Family has been given the Rod
- The Church has been given the “Keys” and teaches all three spheres
- The Government has been given the Sword
The following “links” give us insights into these three jurisdictions.
Babylon Bee and Pastor Wilson
In a culture that has rejected God, this link illustrates the need to return to a Christian national consensus.
Josh Hawley – Nationalism
The best free system that has ever existed.
Examples of unsustainable systems.
Example 1 – The United Nations (UN) replaced the League of Nations after World War 11 to prevent another War. But today the 17 Sustainable Goals promote a political one-world government.
Example 2 – The World Economic Forum (WEF) founded by Klaus Schwab in 1971 is a global organization. It is best known for its annual meetings in Davos, Switzerland. The WEF promotes (ESG) Environmental, Social, and Governance.
Vivek Ramaswamy labels (WEF) a “woke cult” impacting our culture. He argues that these “woke” ideas have a stifling impact on all areas of our culture. His friend Dr. James Linsday has 400 hours of podcasts that expose this cult.
Example 3 – Many religious systems like The Roman Catholic Church pervert God’s plan for us. Listen to the audio and read along at GTY.org Type Roman Catholic in the search bar …

Question # 3 – What details explain how Jesus sustains us?
-
- He reconciles us to His Father with His Death, Burial, and Resurrection. He forgives us. He gives us the Holy Spirit to guide and strengthen us.
- He understands our struggles and provides peace in the middle of storms.
- He guides us with His Word “to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with our God?” Micah 6:8
- He sustains us with the church body of Christ; through worship, fellowship,
- He sent The Holy Spirit to lead us into love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control” Gal. 5
- He provides the hope of eternal life and fellowship with God.
- He gives us a unique framework for making disciples in the Gospel of John.
Jesus said,
“I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.”
God uses the word “Bread” over 300 times in Scripture. (examples)
-
- The Bread of Life. – John 8:46.
- The Bread in the Ark of the Tabernacle foreshadows and represents Jesus
- The Bread of Life when we take communion. – I Corinthians 11:24
- The Bread – the Word of God – Psalm 1
- The Bread – a model for prayer – “Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.” Matthew 6:11-15
