My Story
By the age of 24, God used two verses to give me wisdom living in a warzone. Colossians 2:8 (watch for traps) and 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (the weapons of our warfare). At this time our second child was born. Francis Schaeffer was explaining the word Worldview and Josh McDowell was explaining the word Apologetics.
By the age of 36 Ken Ham’s book entitled, The Lie, explained our life in the warzone of ideas. As a result we established Crisis Pregnancy Centers. We are thankful that thousands of babies were spared, and hundreds of women accepted Christ as their Savior.
Today we take friends and family to The Museum of the Bible in Washington D.C. and the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter near Cincinnati.
Question #1 – What is the only Door that gives us access to Heaven?
Answer:
Jesus is the only access point to salvation.
Jesus is the only access point to eternal life.
Jesus is the only one that can reconcile us to God the Father
Question #2 – How does the claim of Jesus… “I AM THE DOOR” provide access?
Answer: “Doors” are access to life in Christ and eternal life with God
1. The Ark Door – Sin separates people from God.
Genesis 4:7 “Sin is crouching at the door, Its desire is contrary to you, but you must rule over it.”
Genesis 6:5, 8, 13 “The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 8 But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord. 13 “God said to Noah, “I have determined to make an end of all flesh, for the earth is filled with violence through them.”
Genesis 7:16 “And the Lord shut him in.” God shut the DOOR
Genesis 7:23 “God blotted out every living thing that was on the face of the ground, man and animals and creeping things and birds of the heavens. They were blotted out from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those who were with him in the ark.”
2. The Passover Door – God provides a plan to deal with sin.
Exodus 12:21-24 ”Select lambs for yourselves according to your clans, and kill the Passover lamb. Take a bunch of hyssop and dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and touch the lintel and the two doorposts with the blood that is in the basin. None of you shall go out of the door of his house until the morning. For the Lord will pass through to strike the Egyptians, and when he sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, the Lord will pass over the door and will not allow the destroyer to enter your houses to strike you. You shall observe this rite as a statute for you and for your sons forever.
3. The Temple’s Inner Doors – death is required to deal with sin.
Once a year on the Day of Atonement two doors at the entrance to the place of God’s holy presence. The doors separated men from this room. A sacrifice was made for the sins of the people. This was a picture of the lamb of God which takes away the sin of the world.
Hebrews 10:4 “It is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.”
The verse is part of a larger argument in the Book of Hebrews that explains how Jesus’ sacrifice is superior to the old sacrificial system and is able to provide complete and eternal redemption for sins.
John 1:29 “John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, ‘Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!'”
4. The Sheep’s Door – Salvation is found in Christ alone
John 10 “He who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another way, that man is a thief and a robber. 2 But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 To him the gatekeeper opens. The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. 5 A stranger they will not follow, but they will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.” 6 This figure of speech Jesus used with them, but they did not understand what he was saying to them.
So Jesus again said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”
The Cross – 2 Corinthians 5:21 “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
5. The Tomb’s Door – The Victory of the Resurrection
Just as Jesus claimed to be the door. He conquered death, the door of the tomb was rolled away.
The old gospel song of joy “Every Burden of My Heart Rolled Away” was written by Harry Dixon Loes (born in 1892) It celebrates the liberation from sin and burdens through faith in Jesus Christ.
Mark 16:4 “But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away.”
6. The Narrow Door – The warning of coming judgment
Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.”
Everyone must humble themselves, repent of sin and ask God to save them. By faith enter the only door that leads to eternal life. Jesus is the Door to life.
Question # 3 – What verses explain the actions God took to give us “DOOR” access?
He gave you a gift. (John 3:16) (John 1:12) (John 6:32)
He chose you. (1 Peter 2:9)
He predestined you. (Romans 8:30)
He called you. (Mark 10:49)
He justified you. (Romans 8:30) (Romans 3:20) (Galatians 2:16)
He ransomed you. (1 Peter 1:18) (Revelation 5:9)
He redeemed you. (Galatians 3:13) (Job 33:28)
He reconciled you. (Romans 5:10) (2 Corinthians 5:20) (Colossians 1:22)
He atoned for you. (Romans 5:11)
He died for you. (Romans 5:8)
He suffered for you. (1 Peter 2:21) (1 Peter 3:18)
He will meet you in glory. (Romans 2:7) (Romans 8:18) (Ephesians 1:14)
He is storing up treasures for you. (Matthew 6:20)
He gives you eternity. (Matthew 25:46). (John 3:15) (1 John 2:25)
John 10:9 – The “DOOR” access is explained by John Calvin. In time his explanation of the door of salvation was remembered by the acoustic “TULIP” John Macarthur speaks about the Tulip
Total Depravity – This doctrine states that all humans are born in sin and are completely unable to save themselves or even choose to follow God without divine intervention. Jesus being “the door” signifies that only through Him can sinful humanity find redemption. Since people are entirely depraved, they cannot enter into a relationship with God by their own merits or efforts; they must enter through Jesus.
Unconditional Election – According to this belief, God has chosen certain individuals for salvation based on His will and purpose, not on any foreseen merit in them. Jesus as “the door” means that those who are elected by God will enter through Him. Their election ensures that they will find the door and be granted access to eternal life through Jesus alone.
Limited Atonement – This point asserts that Jesus’ sacrificial death was sufficient for all, but it was intended only for the elect. Jesus being “the door” indicates that His atonement specifically provides the means of salvation for those whom God has chosen. The door is open only to those for whom the atonement was intended, ensuring their entry into salvation.
Irresistible Grace – This doctrine teaches that when God calls an individual to salvation, that call cannot be resisted. Jesus as “the door” supports the idea that those whom God calls will inevitably come to Jesus and be saved. The grace that draws them to the door is effective and cannot be thwarted.
Perseverance of the Saints – This point states that those who are truly saved will persevere in faith until the end. Jesus as “the door” ensures that those who enter through Him will remain secure in their salvation. The door is not just an entry point but also a guarantee of ongoing access to eternal life and a continued relationship with God.
“DOOR” access is rooted in a “Grant” based on repentance. This grant results in three things.
-
“Knowledge of the Truth” 2 Peter 1:3-11 1 Corinthians 3:7
-
“Come to our Senses” Luke 15:17 1 Corinthians 15:32-34
-
“Escape from the snare of the devil” I Corinthians 10:13 Hebrews 2:2-4. 2 Peter 2:20. Psalm 33:16
